Great News for Delicious Revolution!!!

Bumjoo Maclennan

Dear Delicious Revolutionaries,

I hope that you are all well and that your summers have been fruitful, and fun filled.  In the last update I shared that I had been networking, attending film festivals, meeting great people and filling out applications; all important in the process of getting a film funded and made. I am delighted that I can now share great pieces of news that mark a leap forward for Delicious Revolution and fill me with gratitude.

At the Forum in Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival (the “CPH:DOX”) in March this year, I watched a brilliant pitch by a Tanzanian Director and his producer Natalie Humphreys, from Storyboard Studios. I left feeling that it would be amazing if I could attract a producer who would believe in my film and promote it as expertly and enthusiastically as Natalie had done. A few months later in Sheffield I was serendipitously introduced to Natalie by Dani from Screen Scotland who I met at the CPH:DOX at one of many Happy Hours. Her warmth and kindness shone through, and after many meetings, and calls with Natalie and her team at Storyboard Studios they have agreed to be producers of Delicious Revolution!

Having such an experienced and successful producer multiplies our chances of success.  The Storyboard team brings almost three decades in originating and delivering innovative and multi-award-winning premium documentary, natural history, arts, science and history stories, for audiences in the UK and around the world. She also produced one of our favourite TV’s shows – Trust Me I am a Doctor on BBC2 with the late Michael Mosley which I started watching in around 2016 when I was paying attention to my food’s impact on my body. I feel so fortunate to work with Natalie, Kevin and Claire who have been producing such good work, have the expertise that I need, and the principles and values that I admire. Welcome to the Delicious Revolution and thank you for your belief in our project!!

The next piece of exciting news is that Delicious Revolution has the support of the Redford Center through their Fiscal Sponsorship program!  I have been truly inspired by the Redford Center’s mission. Established by the actor Robert Redford and his late son James Redford in 2005, they believe that film is one of the most powerful tools to shift culture, build empathy, represent frontline communities, and move people into action for our environment.

Since the formation of the Fiscal Sponsorship program in 2015, they supported over 50 projects and distributed nearly $10 million to environmental stories and projects. I feel extremely fortunate to be selected as part of the program and am grateful to Jonathan for his trust in the project.

The Redford Center Fiscal Sponsorship program allows US-based philanthropic donations from companies and individuals to be tax deductible through the power of their extended 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt status. This means that we can now ramp up our fundraising in the US.

If it was not for Mathilde and Frank during the INTRO:DOX, a program for first-time filmmakers at CPH:DOX, I would not have known that Fiscal Sponsorship programs were available for productions outside of the US. If it was not for Lisa's "why not" question, I would not have applied for the Redford Center’s Fiscal Sponsorship.

The Redford Center page will go live soon but please contact me by replying to this email in the meantime should you be interested in making a tax efficient contribution and based in the US.

As ever, I am very grateful to all who have helped me get to this point: whether by agreeing to be filmed, advising on the content, filming, editing, coaching, teaching, mentoring, making introductions and writing letters of support, donating money, time and lodging, and for all of the moral support and emails encouraging me to keep going.

Last but not least, I would like to thank my husband, Adam for being the biggest believer and supporter of the film and its purpose!

With gratitude,

Bumjoo
